Almost two years following opening its doors in September 2020, the new public university will be holding its formal opening ceremony on Thursday, June 9.

Team and learners can at last commemorate the college after not getting able to host an in-individual opening ceremony thanks to the pandemic.

Actions at the Oakville university, situated on 3199 Post Rd., consist of college student excursions and a community open home.

“Although we technically opened our doors to pupils in September 2020, we have not still been ready to rejoice this pretty particular situation as a university local community,” says Janet Ricciardelli, Principal at Dr. David R. Williams PS. “The staff members and college students are really thrilled to showcase this gorgeous new college and the wonderful accomplishments we have reached.”

The new general public university is named immediately after Canadian astronaut and Oakville resident, Dr. David Williams.

Dr. Williams has gained numerous career honours and awards, including Officer of the Buy of Canada in 2013, Purchase of Ontario in 2014 and the Award of Excellence from the School of Household Physicians of Canada in 2015.

The grand opening ceremony commences at 5 p.m. and things to do will include self-guided university tours, a barbecue, musical performances and a ribbon reducing ceremony.
