Local woman recognized at the 2022 Esquao Awards
The Athabasca Tribal Council (ATC) was nicely represented at the 2022 Esquao Awards Gala.
Elena Gould, the Director of Instruction, Society, and Language at ATC, gained the Esquao Lifestyle Award.
Gould is being identified for her exceptional perform endorsing Indigenous lifestyle and neighborhood.
“Elena has normally been a leader both equally by way of her function at ATC and in Indigenous communities,” explained Karla Buffalo, CEO of ATC.
“Her participating individuality results in area for Indigenous and non-Indigenous men and women to share, find out and mature as a result of academic and inclusive environments, producing prospects for Indigenous cultural revitalization that is necessary to carry on to build a future for Indigenous people today all over the place.”
President of ATC Chief Adam claims he is very pleased Elena is remaining acknowledged for her work to progress Indigenous culture.

Also identified for the Esquao Culture Award was Dorthy (Dot) Anderson of St. Albert and Skye Durocher of Sputinow.
The Esquao Awards was launched by the Institute for the Progression of Aboriginal Females.
